Why was the Hajj imposed on Muslims?
The verses of the Noble Qur’an and the authentic Sunnah of Muhammadiyah say that Hajj is one of the five pillars upon which Islam is built, and that every Muslim man and woman must perform the Hajj to the Sacred House once in his life whenever he is able to do that. “.
And he, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “Islam is built on five: the testimony that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God, the establishment of prayer, the payment of zakat, the fasting of Ramadan, and the pilgrimage to the house for whomever is able to go.”
The Qur’an indicated the necessity of Hajj, and that it is in the most famous information, and outlined some of its rulings, as for the details of its rulings, how to perform its rituals, and what is required for its validity. “Take your rituals from me,” and I have seen the pilgrims mean the fullest attention to standing on the rulings of Hajj and how to perform its rituals, and they ask what is forbidden and what is permissible for the forbidden, and about the number of pebbles that the rituals are thrown into, their quantities and the time of their throwing, and about the circuits of the circumambulation of the Ka’bah and the stages of sa’y between Safa and Marwa And other provisions that they want to stand by in order to perform the obligatory Hajj in the most complete way.
As for the wisdom of imposing the Hajj, and the interests that the street intended by this assignment, and what Muslims gain every year from the possibility of these physical and financial hardships, these are issues that do not frequently question, and the pilgrims do not receive the attention that the rulings of the rituals receive, even though the wise street did not intend to impose Hajj, and not by any imposition it imposed, is just its apparent structure and its physical image, but rather the intention of the structure, the soul, the image and the meaning.
And I explain, God willing, in this article: Why was the Hajj imposed? And what did the street mean by it of goodness and benefit?
Whoever examines the verses of the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet, it becomes clear to him that the wise street is what obligated every Muslim and Muslim woman to perform the Hajj once in his life except to achieve social interests for the Muslim peoples and their groups, and to achieve the individual interests of the pilgrim himself. Hajj, in terms of the interests of the street, has two aspects: on the one hand, on the social reform side, and on the one hand, on the point of individual reform.
As for the social reform aspect of the Hajj:
God, may He be glorified, guided it by saying: “And he has authorized the people to perform Hajj, and men will come to you, and on every devil who come from every deep dawn, they will witness benefits for them, and they will remember the name of God on the cattle that they have provided.”
The saying of the Almighty: “To witness benefits for them” is a statement because what is meant by the Hajj is the delegations of Muslims from men and women to one place, which is the Kaaba, to see what is beneficial for them, their good and their interest, and the Almighty has called “benefits for them” to indicate what is intended is everything that is beneficial to them in their religion And their world, in science, in commerce, in politics, in economics, or in every aspect of benefit and reform, and the most important of which is the strengthening of their unity and brotherhood, and setting plans for their cooperation and their support.
This is because the basis on which Islam built its call, and the slogan that the knowledge of Muslims made and their title is the unity, brotherhood, solidarity and support of Muslims, and the primacy of their Islamic university over the differences between them in nationality, nationality, language or region, and for this reason the texts of the Qur’an and Sunnah have spoken that the believers are brothers, and that the believers Female believers are some of the guardians of one another, and that the believer is to the believer, like a compact structure that pulls one together, and as one body, if a member complains about it, the rest of the body will be called to him by staying up late and feverish.
The Muslim scholars decided that the house of Muslims is one house, even if their kings, armies, languages and races differ, and that there is no real difference between a Muslim and a Muslim in the house, even if the political subordination varied and the countries diverged.
Because of this, God prescribed acts of worship and imposed one of the obligatory duties that strengthens this unity, nourishes this brotherhood, and enables Muslims to reap the fruits of their unity and their brothers, so the group enacted the five daily prayers. To get acquainted with the people of the same region, and to impose Friday every week for the people of the regions in the same country to get acquainted, and to impose Hajj once in a lifetime so that Muslims from different countries gather once a year around the Sacred House of God and in the cradle of Islam and the land of revelation, so that they remember the principle of their command, and what prevailed in their state and their calling And they study their affairs, so the Egyptian knows the affairs of the Pakistani and the Indonesian, the Marrakchi knows the affairs of the Polish and the Lebanese, and every people stands in the same way as all other peoples, and with this acquaintance and understanding they set plans for their commercial, industrial and practical exchanges, and for their support and cooperation against those who attack them or their interests.
This Hajj is an annual Islamic conference convened by a divine call, in which the delegations and representatives of the Islamic nations meet, in the purest place with the purest souls, supporters with the help of God. To draw a plan for Muslims’ cooperation, and decide what achieves their hopes, cures their illnesses, and unifies their word.
If the Muslims were interested in this annual divine conference, and every Muslim people sent a mission to it from the best scholars of politics, industry, trade and other religious and world affairs, and the Hijaz government would organize meetings for these various missions and facilitate the way for them to get acquainted with and discuss them; Had this been implemented, every year Muslims would have had a unanimous reform voice, which would be heard throughout the world, and Muslims would have waited every year with attentive ears and conscious hearts.
But I say, with sadness filling my heart, that I have seen thousands of Muslims in Makkah receive one kiss, one imam leads them, and believe in one God, but there is no understanding between them, nor acquaintance, nor exchanging conversations about a religious or worldly matter, and in one place the Egyptian, Pakistani, Negro, Afghani and Javanese meet. As if they were not united by a university, nor were they bound by brothers; Because each of them does not understand his brother’s language, and he cannot exchange any conversation.
That is why I see it as a duty for every Muslim people to make the Arabic language an essential subject .This is the first step for Muslims to understand and get acquainted with them, and to invest in their unity and brotherhood, and it is surprising that some Islamic countries are now preparing to call for an Islamic conference, and it was more deserving of them to prepare the kit and broadcast the call to benefit from the Islamic conference The annual meeting is held at the invitation of God, and delegations rush to it with faith and sincerity seeking the pleasure of God, so let the Muslims’ direction be to benefit every year from the decisions of this conference, and the results of the efforts of these resurrections and their purity of souls around the Kaaba and in the cradle of Islam and the revelation of the Qur’an.
With regard to the individual reform of the Hajj:
The Messenger of God — may God bless him and grant him peace — instructed her by saying: “Whoever performs Hajj and does not conspiracy and does not commit adultery returns from his sins like the day his mother gave birth to him,” and by saying: “If you meet the pilgrim, greet him and shake his hand and ask forgiveness for you before he enters his home, then he is forgiven.” Just as the five daily prayers are expiation for their sins, and Zakat is a purification for the one who prays from stinginess, diligence, cruelty and selfishness, and fasting is a purification for the fasting person from indulging in desires and following the soul that leads to evil, so Hajj is a purification for the pilgrim from his sins and sins, he cleans himself, removes what fell on his heart, and makes him permanent He mentioned from his Lord, and that is that the wise street has prescribed every ritual of the rituals of Hajj as a phase of purification of the soul from its sins and sins, even if the pilgrim completes the rituals of his pilgrimage, his ritual passes through several phases of purification, then the pilgrimage ends and he washed himself and cleansed his heart and God forgave him and forgive him.
The first thing that the pilgrim begins with is the Ihram, and this is the first mathematical and disciplinary lesson for the same pilgrim, because if the pilgrim stripped his clothes and saw himself bare head semi-barefoot, and he saw the kings, the market, the rich and the poor, the servants and their servants in a single outfit, the appearances of the world fell in his eyes, and he remembered his principle and its antagonism, and he believed that Greatness is God alone, and at that time he remembers his sins and sins, beseeches his Lord, and enters his tongue: O God, bless you!
If he arrives in this situation to Makkah, he arrives with a humble soul, mourning and crying with sorrow, and he finds the lost soul he seeks, and the opportunity he seizes, which is the Kaaba, then wanders around, calling for forgiveness, cheering and exaggerating, believing that he is in the most generous place with God, in which repentance is accepted and sins are forgiven.
And if he moved from circling the Kaaba to seeking between serenity and chivalry, repeat his supplication and seek forgiveness. And if he stands at Arafat, remembers the messenger’s pause under the pretext of farewell, he sermonizes the farewell sermon, and faces the mountain of mercy — there the eye overflows with tears, the heart beats with repentance, the tongue pulses with forgiveness, and the person imagines that he has attained the pleasure of his Lord, got out of his sins, and has triumphed over his own obsessions, the whispers of Satan He symbolizes this victory by throwing pebbles, returning from the rituals of Hajj, and he threw his heels on, and he felt that God had forgiven him.
These spiritual meanings and the disciplinary sport of the rituals of Hajj require every pilgrim to think about them and work to achieve them, for the wise street is what is the condition of ihraam just for a person to uncover his head and stripped of his clothes, and what is the obligation of tawaaf just to turn with stones and wipe with a curtain, and what is required The pursuit between As-Safa and Marwah is merely for the sake of running for several miles, and the imposition of standing at Arafah for a mountain trip.
However, sadness filled my heart, I watched pilgrims mean pictures and figures, and they feel awkward and puritan, and carry themselves with their rigid hardships that distracts them from thinking about the wisdom of legislating or reforming the soul.
